11/10/05 – Circle Sedona
Gary picked today’s ride which calls for a start at Chimney Rock Trail then Thunder Mountain, Sugarloaf, Tea Cup, Cibola Pass, Jim Thompson, and then a ride down the highway back to the car. We head off in search of the Chimney Rock trail entrance and find this over our heads (Lizard Rock):

11/9/05 – Templeton Trail, Sedona, AZ
Morning arrives and I bid farewell to Phoenix (for now) and head north to Sedona. I check in, suit up, and I’m on the bike up to the Bell Rock Pathway and past Bell Rock.
Mercer County Park

Once the sun came out this morning it quickly went from 42F to 62F by
the time I reached the parking lot at Mercer County Park. By midday it
was in the 70’s! It was a perfect day for riding and as a bonus I threw
the kayak on the car as well. Mercer County Park, although flat, offers
some great trails with lots of logovers and a huge lake that is used
for crew and other water sports.
The group gathers and Mike N. New Bob, Steve, Jay, Joe, jeff, and I
head out. I’m on the singlespeed today.
A Noble Day

We start climbing up the fire road and I’m thinking that (1) this is
just a JAR ride with the starting climb and (2) this terrain doesn’t
look all that nasty.
