Another Spring Day
by Mitchell Sprinsky on Mar.25, 2012, under Colorado
A picture perfect Colorado Spring day. The sky was blue, temperature warm, trails dry, people friendly, and the wild turkey’s were all over the place.
The parking lot was crammed. People were already parking along the access road, but we found our spots and headed out. Today’s crew included Bob, Tim, and Stephanie. I was dialing in the Eriksen for the upcoming Moab trip, Tim and Stephanie were rocking out their singlespeeds, and poor Bob was suffering the babyheads on the fully rigid. Ouch!
Surprisingly, for all the cars in the lot, there was little traffic.
A very merry crew, though I do miss a couple of other regular participants.
Bob was trying to show the Wapiti trail who was boss. This was probably the smoothest section.
Yup, I was doing my patrol for this ride. There were actually three of us spread out around the ranch. I did get to administer first aid, something I rarely (and that’s a good thing) get to do. A rider went OTB and cut herself up pretty good. In the end, she rested, got her sea legs back, and rode it out.
I love the old foundations that are spread around the park. It’s pretty amazing that these structures still stand and that you can see where they quarried the rock.
Let’s not forget some of the best singletrack that Boulder has to offer. MOst of these trails are built very well and handle a lot of traffic without widening. There was a County crew doing some re-routes as well.
Tim was railing the trails today. His bike served as the mount for one of the video cameras. It was a lot of work keeping up with him and his girlfriend.
Halfway through Picture Rock.
Three quarters of the way through the ride and they are still smiling. What is it about mountain biking that has such a profound effect on our psyche.
Yeah, it was like that.
And yes, there was video. Not the best as I thought the rear cam would do a little better over the bumps.
