Chunky Fun at 10,000′

by on Jul.15, 2012, under Colorado, Ride Reports

How do you cool down at higher altitudes, without having to sit in mountain traffic for three hours?

Head up to Nederland and the Sourdough trail.

Tim and Stephanie joined me on an excursion to easy street.  Well, by easy street, I mean high country without the traffic.  The trail wasn’t easy street.

Who likes the chunk?

We like the chunk!

Sourdough was extra loosey goosey today!  The recent downpours have moved things around just enough to make it interesting.

We made it an out and back to Brainard Lake.  Not a serious amount of mileage, but it’s a grunt of a climb when you factor in the rocks.

Stephanie was really ratcheting up her “A” game.  The log overs were all business!

There were quite a few downed trees, but another patroller out that day, was making some good progress with a hand saw.

We took a few food breaks, before hightailing it back down to beat the thunderstorms.  We started the car and the heavens opened up.  PERFECT!
