Adam’s Gulch

The main trailhead from this point travels over some fun relatively
flat singletrack until it reaches the fork for Adam’s or Eve’s Gulch.
We take a break for poseur pics. In order it’s Mike "Air" Newman, Me, and Susan and Mike.
We continue on passed many of these. The word of the day for this ride is SCREE!
Finally,
we reach the junction point. At this stop we say goodbye to Susan and
Matt who opt for the less intense routw and the rest of us head on up.
The
trail continues to climb (and I mean a lot of climbing). It
unfortunately goes through multiple loose scree piles which force us
off the bike to walk more than we’d like to. Add this to the overgrown
stinging nettles (which I managed to plant both legs down into) and
it’s becoming a painful ride.
Nearing the top the trail get’s steaper and switchbacks become harder.
At the top we realize what the pain and agony was all about.
It’s
all downhill from here. Ripping downhill with some technical spots
thrown in to force more than one of us (including myself) OTB. Some out
in the open and long stretches through the woods. The bottom ports has
some nasty switchbacks which sneak up on you.
They were too much fun to stop for pics.
A
fantastic four hour adventure that we later learn could have been made
entirely less painfull by taking a fire road to the top. The locals
don’t like going the way we went, but one dude in the LBS does it on a
singlespeed. Live and learn.
